Using Emotional Intelligence as a Predictor for Leadership Success

We are all familiar with IQ, but what about the role of EQ – emotional intelligence – as a measure of potential leadership success and, ultimately, individual and organizational performance? Emotional intelligence requires effective communication between the rational and emotional centers of the brain. It represents the path between feeling and reason. There are four skills that together make up emotional intelligence. The top two are self-awareness and self-management, which are about personal competence, and the bottom two are social awareness and relationship management, which are about social competence.

Studies indicate that EQ is a required competency for strong leaders, it is the number one predictor of professional success and personal excellence, and it affects profitability and performance. This audio presentation introduces the concept of EQ and the role it can play in selecting top talent, improving operational efficiency, and building a powerful leadership team.

This audio presentation covers:

  • The science behind the theory of emotional intelligence
  • The four competencies required to develop emotional intelligence
  • Tips and strategies for developing the required competencies
  • Building the business case for growing emotionally intelligent leaders
  • The role of EQ as a predictor of personal and professional success
